The Bowen Island Yacht Club invites you to a Social Evening on Thursday, March 26, at Collins Hall, starting at 7.30PM.

This month we will be featuring the film, "BACK TO CLASSICS" - THE RENAISSANCE OF CLASSIC YACHTING.

Synopsis:   In July 2003, and in a scene normally only found in the Mediterranean, around forty beautifully restored wooden yachts gathered in Cowes, on the Isle of Wright, for the second British Classic Yacht Club Regatta.     Filmed over four days of the event, “Back to Classics” provides a unique opportunity to take a closer look at some of the most beautiful and certainly most cherished yachts of their time. Combining stunning action footage with interviews and historical narrative, it is a fascinating glimpse into the world of classic yachts.   From small day-boats to 60-foot ketches, a legendary America’s Cup challenger to a century old gentleman’s cutter.  Design classics from the pens of Laurent Giles, McGruer, Fife, Nicholson, Holman and Rhodes - all sailing together in a spectacular celebration of times gone by and proving beyond all doubt that the renaissance of classic yachting at Cowes is well and truly underway.

Snacks will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments. So, mark your calendars and come along and enjoy the company of other members of the sailing fraternity.
